Near Death Experiences

near death experiencesWhen I was a freshman in school, my father had a severe heart attack. He always was an especially hard worker. He worked a full-time job and ran a dairy farm. He was also an especially devout Catholic. We didn’t have a great amount of money, yet we were sent to a private Catholic school.

Practicing our religion was a very important element of our family life.

My dad was a quiet man that lived a Christian life besides discussing it. His arteries were so blocked that he had to have bypass surgery. This was in the latter 1970s, so this process was still terribly new and available only at a research infirmary 70 miles from the farm. My dad’s surgery was difficult due to the fact the surgeons didn’t how damaged his heart was.

They lost him for a while on the operating table. After a couple of weeks in a coma, my father eventually regained consciousness. He had one or two months of rehab before he was ultimately ready to come back home.

Lakhsana Used in the Brahma Sutras

To have a better understanding of the Brahma Sutras, we have to know a word – Laksana and its significance. The literal meaning of Laksana is the identifying features or attributes or very close to an metaphor. For example, while explaining the address of someone named Ram, we say, Ram’s house is in the Ganga. We all know that Ganga being a river cannot be a place where someone could build a house. It means that Ram’s house is in the banks of the river Ganga. This is known as the Tatastha Laksana. Tatastha Laksana is that expression by which we express a certain character of an object which is distinct from its real nature. The definition of an object that helps temporarily to identify the object, but which is discarded later for a better definition is called incidental qualification or Tatastha Laksana;

Question and Conclusion of the First Aphorism of the Br Sutra

As it has been said in the first aphorism that the question of the Self or Brahman has began. Now, the question is- why should we question about the existence of Brahman? Does the world cease to exist after the knowledge of the Self is attained? The answer is an obvious ‘ NO’. After the realization of the Self or Brahman, which has been described in the Upanishads as the destroyer of the world phenomena, liberator of the illusory world etc, we still continue to witness the relative existence or Samsara (world). So, why should we desire for Brahman or Self?

His Tragic Death Spawned Our Magnificent Life!

Anyone would be in agreement that the crucifixion of Jesus was a horrific event. Many believers choose to not even discuss the details because one can’t separate the gory portion of those circumstances without an array of emotions sweeping over them. Jesus was an innocent, spotless lamb whose assignment was to reconcile a spiritually dying world with the Father. Jesus knew His work would give all mankind the opportunity to take part in an inheritance that would be eternal (Hebrews 9:15). His completed work was the catalyst for all humanity to engage in a transformation should they choose. He gave humans the ability, the power if you will to morph into the beautiful, empowered and anointed beings that God the Father originally designed them to be. Jesus’ ultimate act of love made us new by renovating our filthy hearts. Our righteousness that is equivalent to filthy rags cannot be trusted to fulfill God’s agenda. Our own righteous behavior would never be worthy enough to keep our hearts clean. This is because our carnal nature seeks to cling to traditional, legal views or rituals that fail us. We should be aware of the fact that our lives, once we know Him is no longer our own. After we confess Christ, it is imperative that we reinforce the reality of being blood bought. There is no higher price to pay than death on the cross yet Christ willing journeyed there for our souls. There was no worthy offering that God could accept to redeem humanity from the bondage of sin. With Him, we’re just useless items in a pawn shop window held hostage by corruption. It was Christ who breathed on us, saw our value and brought us home to God. This wasn’t because we were redeemable but because we needed to be redeemed. The constant enmity between the ungodly desires lying in our flesh and the truth that is exposed through the anointing becomes tangible through the act of salvation. It keeps us ever mindful that we indeed needed a savior.

The Law of Attraction – How it Works and Why it Might Not Be Working For You

Many people felt inspired by the movie The Secret. For some it was even a life changing experience, seeming to speak to a knowing inside of us that cried out: “YES! I know this is true!” Many went out and immediately began applying the techniques; buying poster boards and filling them up with all their deepest desires. For the first few years following the release of the movie, there was an excitement in the air as everyone wrote down their intentions and waited eagerly for them to manifest. But for many people the results didn’t come. And they were left wondering if the law of attraction actually exists in the first place.

Birthday Present – The Gift of Pain

My 44th birthday started with a lovely wake-up kiss from my husband. As I rolled over to receive a hug, I felt a sharp twinge under my right shoulder blade. Within a half hour, the twinge escalated to an ever-present ache which would oscillate between a dull throb and a breath-stealing pain. I did what I could with stretching and a hot water bottle to relieve the pain, but it persisted. I felt frustrated, disappointed, and angry because I had reserved the day to exchange yoga therapy sessions something I had not done for myself in years! My body was giving my clear signals that I could not give a session, but maybe, just maybe, could I be open to the possibility of simply receiving one? When I called to speak my truth about my predicament, Kirsten was more than willing to adjust our plans.

This verse above is set to a special context and yet its truth contains a cataclysmic theological principle – the Spirit of God cannot be housed in some temple humankind have made.
